Coastal Storm Tour
The PNW was meant to have raging storms all weekend so of course an outdoor coastal trip was on the cards. Korey drew out a map Friday night (I’m not gonna lie, I was quite impressed with the accuracy!) and we looked at our options. It was decided that we’d head up to the most north western part of Oregon and work our way down from there. We decided on a few spots and made up a rough plan of what to do the next day
So off we took Saturday in another beautiful Cadillac up to Astoria in the pouring rain. The car seats were heated in the car so I KO’d immediately and missed most of the scenic drive. The parts I did manage to squint in were beautiful though.
It took around 2hrs to get to Astoria and what a pretty harbor town it is! I’d love to come back in the summer time and see it in full action. For food we stopped in at Fort George Brewery. I had the most amazing salad (yes they can be!) and beer. I think it was called pumpkin something or other but either way it was delicious! 🙂 The brewery is set on two levels and the staff were so nice, it’s a really cozy place (even though it’s huge) and you could easily spend all day in there. Afterwards, we hopped in the car and made our way to the wreck of Peter Iredale. It was pouring out by this stage and really windy which made the perfect setting for visiting the shipwreck which is part of Fort Steven’s State Park.
