Chiang Mai – Songkran

Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve updated this, things have been so busy!

I decided to head back to Chiang Mai a day earlier than planned to catch Songkran. I’m so glad I did, it was absolutely brilliant! It was really easy to change my ticket and managed to book in to a hostel at last minute. The hostel I stayed in was Sunny’s and I will 100% recommend this place if going to Chiang Mai. The welcome I received was great, they provide towels, good WiFi (even in the dorms) and was really clean. The staff were super and arranged a taxi to bring me to the airport the next day – no worries! The location is perfect, near loads of restaurants, bars and the Night Bazaar and markets.

I arrived in Pai on the 10th and got here by bus. I booked through my hostel and was picked up by Aya service. The journey to Pai took about 3.5hrs with 1 stop. It was quite a windy drive but we had AC and there wasn’t too many on the bus. From Pai, I rang my ┬áhostel to come pick me up. I’m staying at The Famous Pai Circus Hostel and it’s like nothing I’ve experienced before. I was booked in. To a dorm but due to maintenance I was upgraded to a hut. The hut has a futon, bamboo flooring and walls, a roof made from straw and leaves, a mosquito net and fan. There’s gaps in the floor and you can hear chickens from dawn. I absolutely love it! The hostel itself is so charming and they’ve always got something going on. There’s yoga twice a day, Circus training, a slack line, pool, restaurant and bar. The view is incredible looking over the country side.

Hello from Thailand!

I arrived in Bangkok Tuesday evening after a 9 hr flight from Melbourne. I may have booked my return flight to Chiang Mai from the wrong airport (rookie travel mistake!) so had to make alternative arrangements. With the help of someone on my flight I managed to get a train from Suvarnabhumi airport to Phaya Thai Station (45thb), get another train from here to Mo-Chit Terminal Station (34thb), a taxi to Mo-Chit Bus Terminal (60thb) and booked and waited for my 10.5hr bus journey to Chiang Mai (375thb) scheduled to leave at 12am. After waiting in the station for 3 hrs I was on my way!
